Europulp Annual Seminar 2026: The Pulp Industry Meets in Barcelona
On 17 September 2026, Barcelona hosted the Europulp Annual Seminar, the yearly gathering bringing together professionals and companies from the European pulp market. The event took place at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), followed by the traditional networking dinner, held this year at El Tribut, a restaurant on Barcelona’s waterfront.
The seminar provided an opportunity to discuss the economic outlook, the competitiveness of European industry and the changes shaping the global pulp market.
Three presentations on the industry outlook
The programme featured three speakers with complementary expertise in economics, industry and market intelligence.
Emily Mansfield, Regional Director for Europe at The Economist Intelligence Unit, presented the global outlook for 2026-2027, examining economic and geopolitical trends that could influence the business environment.
João Cordeiro, Senior Principal at AFRY Management Consulting, addressed the question “Can Europe Remain Competitive?”, exploring Europe’s ability to maintain its industrial competitiveness in an evolving international landscape.
The third presentation, delivered by Oliver Lansdell, Director at Hawkins Wright, focused on fibre-to-fibre substitution in the global pulp market. This topic is relevant to understanding changes in demand and the dynamics between different pulp grades and applications.
Industry discussion and networking
As in previous editions, the event combined expert presentations with opportunities for professionals to meet and exchange views. Following the seminar, participants gathered at El Tribut, a new venue for Europulp’s annual dinner, to continue their discussions in an informal setting.
The event remains an important meeting point for producers, sellers, buyers and other businesses connected with the pulp and paper value chain.
